Combine images using layer masks

You can do "Masking" with any files or pictures as you like.
Here , I am using 2 files as given below :

Final Output

How to do this ?
  • Open the file (Pic having animals)
  • Create a new layer (and name it as "Sun")
  • Pick the "Elliptical Marquee tool" and while pressing  SHIFT , draw a sun given in the picture
  • Choose "Edit-->Fill" and give an Orange shade
  • And after deselecting the sun, move it in a proper place
  • Selecting the layer "sun" , choose the blend mode as "multiply"
  • Change the opacity to 80%
  • Next , open the "sky" file
  • Window-->arrange --> Tile all vertically to see the 2 opened images at the same time.
  • Now , using move tool , drag and drop the sky image into the first image (Now , we can only see the sky image)
  • Note that , there are 3 layers in the layer palette now. Background , Sun and Sky.
  • Now , close the sky image only (second picture).
  • From the layer palette , drag the sun layer to the top , so that the layers are in the order as given below :
  • That is , sun layer in the top , next sky layer and below the background layer.
Note that , which ever layer is in the top of the layer palette, that picture is displayed in the screen .
  • Now , again move the sky image below the background image. The order from the bottom will be then SKY , BACKGROUND and SUN .
  • By keeping all these settings , save the file in the Photoshop (PSD) format
